Swine Flu Recall

Swine Flu Recall,WASHINGTON, D.C.: Health officials say 400 doses of the swine flu vaccine in Lee County are part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recall notice.

The recall is not safety-related, rather it’s because that lot of the vaccine doesn’t meet potency standards set by the CDC.

The Lee County Health Department says of the 400, 164 had already been administered. The other 236 were pulled from shelves Tuesday.

Jennifer Mesloh of the Lee County Health Department said experts expect the vaccines to still be effective, since the antigen level in the recalled vaccine is only slightly below the CDC’s specified range.

She said there is no need to revaccinate any of the people who received the affected vaccine – their shot should be potent enough to work.

We have not heard from Collier or Charlotte counties about how many affected doses their health departments had.
