After Haiyan Images, Survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines flee badly-hit Tacloban City in a panic among rumors of looting and armed bandits. Mana Rabiee reports.

FACEBOOK has its uses, but it’s no way to learn that your wife and daughter have died.

Antonio Inte, 58, was at a seminar on a far away island when he received a message from his son, Lyle, in Tacloban: “Papa, Mama and sister are lost.”

Today authorities began burying the unnamed dead in mass graves on spare ground in public cemeteries in the destroyed city.

Mr Inte was fortunate, but only in one sense: he was able to find his wife, Idna, 54 and his daughter Dame Judith, 27, because there bodies were still trapped in their home.

“I don’t know what happened,” said Mr Inte, a former merchant seaman who has travelled to Australian ports many times.

“Maybe they were sleeping when the water came up. Maybe they were trapped. The bodies were still in the house.”

“I cannot express myself, I don’t know. But it is final.”
