Rosneft Boss Russia Richest Man BP

Rosneft Boss Russia Richest Man BP, BP shareholders could be in line for a special dividend worth a total $10billion following the oil giant’s deal to sell its half of TNK-BP – a mammoth three-way transaction that also made Viktor Vekselberg Russia’s wealthiest man.

The boss of BP, Bob Dudley, is under pressure to return some of the cash windfall from the deal to shareholders.

However, no decision has been made yet and it may have to wait until the size of an impending US fine on BP for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is known.

BP has agreed a £16.7billion deal to ditch its half of troubled joint venture TNK-BP and team up with Kremlin-backed Rosneft. This will see Rosneft pay £7.7billion in cash, hand over 18.5 per cent of its shares and give BP two seats on its nine-strong board.

Rosneft is also planning to buy the other half of TNK-BP from joint venture partner AAR, which is owned by investor Vekselberg and a group of other Russian oligarchs.
