Plane Crash at Mcdonalds, A Beechcraft Bonanza airplane from Illinois crashed into the McDonald’s parking lot in the 8000 block of DeSiard Street at about 10:55 a.m. Tuesday.
The only person on board was the pilot, who suffered what were considered “serious” injuries. A helicopter was landing in a nearby supermarket parking lot to airlift the pilot to a hospital.
The plane is registered to Donald R. Jones, 1725 Wright Drive, Sandwich, Illinois. It’s not immediately clear where the plane took off from.
According to an eyewitness, the plane appeared to clip several pine trees causing it to spin out of control before crashing, said Monroe Municipal Airport Manager Ron Phillips, adding that the plane was in “pretty bad shape.”
“Part of the plane is up against the McDonald’s sign post and it looks like maybe one car was damaged. The plane broke apart but it doesn’t seem like any other major damage to any facilities around,” Phillips said.
