Pearl Harbor Day 2012

December 7, 2012 by

Pearl Harbor Day 2012, Just behind Jersey City’s Sept. 11 memorial overlooking the Manhattan skyline, Hudson County honored veterans this morning on the 71st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. “We will be here forever to honor the sleeping giant that awoke that day,” said Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise. DeGise noted that the location of today’s ceremony, overlooking the new World Trade Center, was perfect because that building represents “another day that will live in infamy.”

Two Pearl Harbor survivors, Frank Wasiniewski and Robert Eakin, were present and threw a commemorative flowered wreath into the Hudson River. Members of the McNair Academic High School ROTC program were also present to honor the veterans. Senior and battalion commander Saugan Prasai said he was honored to be a part of the commemoration.
