Paul Bunyan, The 2009 Paul Bunyan Festival and Great Lakes Chainsaw Carving Championship exceeded some of the legend-induced expectations, said event goers.

“We’ve been here for two hours,” said Sara Bordener of Bloomfield Hills, in attendance with her 12-year-old son, Daniel. “We thought we wouldn’t be here for that long, but found so much to do – we’re very impressed.”
The festival was held Friday through Sunday on Furtaw Field in Oscoda and attracted more than 2,500 people, said Oscoda-AuSable Chamber of Commerce Director Leisa Sutton. The chamber has organized the event for 13 years.
