Mondiaux De Natation, Omnisports Lochte beat Polish Radoslaw Kawecki. American Ryan Lochte retained his title of world champion in the 200 backstroke, winning in 1 min 53 sec 79/100e final Friday in Barcelona.
Lochte became the second swimmer to win the world title in the 200 backstroke at least three times, with his compatriot Aaron Peirsol, four-time winner (2001, 2003, 2005, 2009).
The American was also world champion in 2007 and bronze medalist in 2005 and 2009. It was also Olympic champion in 2008 and bronze medalist in 2012 at the distance.
This is her second gold medal in Barcelona, ??after that obtained on the 200 m 4 medley (third consecutive world title). There was also a silver medalist with the 4x100m freestyle. This is the 21st World medal Lochte its 14th gold.
