Laguardia Airport Status, By Wednesday night, most flights in and out of Ottawa’s airport should be back on schedule, with the exception of flights to New York’s La Guardia Airport, which remains closed due to flooding. “There’s still some cancellations showing that were decided upon yesterday,” said Ottawa Airport spokeswoman Krista Kealey said. “Those things will resolve themselves today and flights will be resuming later today and tomorrow.”

After dozens of cancellations over two days, air travel from Ottawa to the eastern United States resumed Tuesday afternoon.

Porter Air flights from Ottawa to Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport on Centre Island were cancelled Monday, but the airline’s Ottawa operations were back to normal on Tuesday. Porter flights to Boston and Washington resumed Wednesday.

Meanwhile, two of the biggest airports serving New York – John F. Kennedy and Newark Liberty International in New Jersey – have reopened.

The first passenger flight to JFK arrived from Long Beach, California, at 7:04 a.m. Wednesday. The JetBlue flight carried 150 passengers.

The first flight into Newark, New Jersey, was a FedEx plane that landed at 7:12 a.m.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Ron Marsico says the two airports reopened “on a very limited operational schedule.” He urged passengers to call their carriers before heading to the airports.

Some terminals at Newark had lost power during the superstorm but electricity returned on Tuesday.
