KBTX, The annual “Go Texan” began Saturday night in the hall of Fame in Bryan Texas. The annual fundraiser helps to provide scholarships to students pursuing studies in agriculture. “This year we received and 166,000 in scholarships to young local Brazos County under the Livestock Show and Rodeo Houston,” said Ricky Hail, president of the Brazos County “Go Texan”. “The dance and auction is really where it all begins.” The event began at 8 am, which featured live music, dance and silent auction
KBTX-TV 3 is the television channel CBS affiliate station located in Bryan / College, Texas, and the organization of television as news based in the Brazos Valley. It is broadcast in digital UHF channel 50 and is owned by Gray Television. It is a sister station KWTX-TV in Waco. Its transmitter is located in Carlos, Texas.
In its own market, emissions on the cable KBTX – including Suddenlink Channel 5 – and on DirecTV and Dish Network.
KBTX also offers the CW programming on its digital stream. Before the September 2006 merger of The WB and UPN, UPN KBTX offers digital programming. Texas CW is a joint effort between KWTX and KBTX.

KBTX was the first television station in the Brazos Valley. It aired in the same building on East 29th Street in Bryan since its on-air May 22, 1957, although the building was added repeatedly. Originally broadcast on both CBS and ABC programming, KBTX became a wholly owned subsidiary of CBS in 1984.
On October 14, 1983, KBTX switched the switch on a new transmitter in the community Grimes County Carlos. The tower of 1700 feet almost doubled the number of homes reached the station.
Perhaps the most remarkable coverage KBTX was on November 18, 1999. Early this morning the Aggie Bonfire stack collapsed, killing 12 people and wounding 27. The resort, a non-stop coverage of the event, and served as the main source of local and national news in the hours that followed.
KBTX began celebrating its 50th anniversary in May 2007. Many former members of the air staff returned to the celebration, some news reports that guest anchored.
In accordance with the original date in February 2009 commissioned by the federal government, KBTX shut down its analog effective January 20, 2009, as he made the transition to digital television.
On February 28, 2009, KBTX began broadcasting at full digital power tower strengthened Carlos, once again expanding its signal dramatically. KWTX and KBTX experimented with a noon show jointly completed by early 2009. In 2009, KBTX agreements with two suppliers of the nation’s major satellite. For years, Dish Network had refused to offer the area KBTX Bryan / College Station, instead of simply transporting KWTX. However, in 2009, ceded dishes, and April 23 this year, was made available KBTX in the Waco / Temple / Bryan area market. In May 2009, after years of achievement KBTX market, DirecTV announced it would drop its service KBTX. KBTX and DirecTV said they were bombarded with calls from frustrated customers, that negotiations were underway, they say keep on KBTX DirecTV. In June 2009 an agreement was reached to keep the station available to customers of satellite provider.
KBTX serves Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Milam, Montgomery, Robertson, Walker and Washington counties, some of which are also in the Houston market, but receive KBTX. Texas A & M University, Sam Houston State University and Blinn College are within its coverage area.
With its digital signal at full power transmission of the maximum allowed by law in early 2009, the signal also reaches KBTX Houston County in the Tyler / Longview market, Trinity, San Jacinto, Austin, Harris and Waller counties Houston market, and Lee County Market Austin. News 3 Weather team oversees the county and provides forecasts and updates, including during severe weather events.
KBTX is part of a market for rare American television, the Waco / Temple / Bryan market space. Only a handful of DMA in the country have several stations in the network affiliate serving viewers (KBTX serving the Bryan / College Station area, serving KWTX Waco / Temple / Killeen area), although in this case, both stations are linked to each other.
