Katherine Jenkins Polly Noble, Katherine Jenkins has paid a heartfelt tribute to her best friend, who lost a long battle with cancer aged just 32.
The Welsh singer said she was struggling to understand why Polly Noble, whom she described as “simply inspirational”, had died at a “heartbreakingly young age”.
The pair became friends when Katherine gave Polly music lessons as way of earning extra cash when she was finishing her four-year degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Polly died earlier this month after a long fight against cervical cancer. At the time, Katherine tweeted a picture of the pair together, with the words: “Heartbroken. Rest in peace, my darling friend.”
Now, she has written a lengthy and thoughtful piece on her friend’s death and her feelings, also touching on her sadness at the death of the inspirational teenager Stephen Sutton, who died of cancer aged 19 after raising millions of pounds for charity.
She wrote: “There can’t be a person in the country who hasn’t paused for a moment over recent days and reflected on how transient, how cruel fate can be.
“After the death of the teenage cancer sufferer Stephen Sutton, who raised £4 million – and counting – for charity through his relentlessly upbeat and truly courageous fundraising, you can’t help but wonder why those who are so full of life can be so swiftly taken from us.
