Just Go With It, Its holidays and For the handful of local businesses that are open at Christmas is usually a busy sales day.CVS on East Center Street is open 10:00 to 8:00 p.m. today, with the pharmacy open 10 hours-18 hours Although the store is usually open for the holidays, this is the first year of the pharmacy was open, too.
CVS store manager, Sherry Riggs said the Christmas Day is actually quite busy.
“People come for last minute gifts, batteries, milk – just about everything,” she said.
Shift manager Lauren Bivens said he was not really too difficult to find people willing to work the holiday. People often volunteer for a change.
“Some people are away from their families, and they prefer to be with their families working than sitting at home alone,” she said.
In addition to many pharmacies, Chinese restaurants are open on the holiday. After all, not everyone loves turkey and ham, and others prefer to leave the cooking to someone else. Panda Panda on Piedmont Drive is just one of those restaurants will be open on Christmas Day.
“Most years, it’s good enough,” said Wendy Wu, a waitress at Panda Panda for 11 years. “We get a lot of regulars, but new customers, too.”
Wu said that the weather can affect the size of the crowd, and the risk of snow could play a role in how many people out, but it will work.
“I do not mind – they are open and I’ll go,”she said. “We’re just open 5-10 pm on Saturday anyway, I’m going the day with my family.” A store that will not be opened is the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Lowe’s Boulevard.
