Julianne Hough Mark Ballas, And in this corner: Julianne Hough downplays any rift with childhood friend Mark Ballas (r.) stemming from her critique of his choreography on Monday night’s ‘Dancing With the Stars.’

Julianne Hough showed some fancy footwork to extricate herself from an ugly potential feud with her childhood friend and fellow pro dancer, Mark Ballas.

The squabble Monday night was sparked when Hough – serving as a guest judge on the show that helped two-step her way to stardom – took a swipe at Ballas in her comments about his Paso Doble with celebrity partner Christina Milian.
