How Long To Cook A Turkey
December 25, 2010 by USA Post
How Long To Cook A Turkey, Turkey hunting is one of those things that I ask myself all the time. No, I do not. There is a reason for that, the same as that for which I do not hunt predators, I would like… And I am too busy already. Fishing, sailing, deer and duck hunting, the list is long. I can not do everything. I guess it would probably be the reason I’ve never eaten wild turkey until my dad got a couple of licenses for its fall camp and gave me a bird that was killed some time ago.
I always heard he was broke, so I was not sure what to do with it. Legs, thighs and wings, I fried so I could make a turkey pie for my father. After trying a piece, I decided to give the breast meat treated little better. Yep, the grill. Try to keep it moist and not want more power from the flavor, I seasoned the meat with a little Cavender then wrapped in bacon. I had no idea how long to cook so I put them on medium heat and cook until the bacon watched. Talk about awesome! Now, I admit, I think a little overcooked. I had to use a meat thermometer and did a little searching on the Internet for a recipe. But it was still wet on his chest over a domestic turkey that I cooked the traditional way to Thanksgiving. Next time maybe I’ll try injecting a bit of butter and Cajun.
