First Niagara Bank, A longtime KeyBank N.A. employee has been hired by First Niagara Financial Group Inc. to serve as senior relationship manager and vice president of corporate banking.

Alexandra Wehr will oversee the management of a commercial loan portfolio specializing in nonprofit, commercial and industrial lending, according to a release from First Niagara. She held a similar role at KeyBank before moving over to First Niagara.

Wehr received a bachelor’s degree from the University at Buffalo and master’s degree from Canisius College. She serves on boards for organizations such as the People Inc. Foundation, Junior League of Buffalo and Leadership Buffalo.

First Niagara Financial Group is the parent company of the second-largest bank in Western New York, based on deposits, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. At the end of June, First Niagara Bank N.A. held about one-quarter of the region’s deposits.

The bank has been searching for a permanent president and CEO since April when former chief executive John Koelmel was terminated from the job. Gary Crosby, the bank’s chief administrative and operations officer, has been serving as interim president and CEO.
