Fans Killed at Steve Aoki Show

Fans Killed at Steve Aoki Show, For many clubbers in Madrid this week, this Halloween meant dancing to US superstar DJ and DimMak records head Steve Aoki – rather than being stuck in a dark cinema watching re-runs of The Exorcist.

Except, the evening turned out to be a real life nightmare as three clubbers were crushed to death, and more injured, in a stampede at the Thriller Music Park venue, which is reported to have been twice over-capacity.

A pretty harrowing incident all round, the news of the deaths didn’t emerge till after the gig had finished – much to the anger of Aoki.

In a comment posted on Aoki’s Facebook page today, the superstar DJ has apologised for the tragedy, and confirmed he’d have stopped playing immedatly if he’d been told.

Liked almost 20,000 times and shared 1,548 by fans, he also expressed his sadness at the disaster to the victims’ friends and family:

“After my performance last night at Thriller Music Park at the Madrid Arena in Spain, I was devastated to hear that three people had died during a crowd rush at one of the exits. The safety of my fans has always been my top priority and had I known that there was any distress putting people in jeopardy within the venue I would have ended my show immediately. My show in Bilbao, Spain tonight will be cancelled out of respect for those who lost their lives and those who are injured. I would like to express my deepest condolences and heart felt prayers to the families and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Aoki’s Facebook post has since had 846 comments – many people expressing their anger at the venue for apparently over selling tickets, but also for letting the party continue while the emergency occured.
