Early Voting Begins

September 22, 2012 by

Early Voting Begins, The Nov. 6 general election is not far off, and Early Voting/One-Stop Voting begins Oct. 18. One-Stop Voting means you can register and vote at the same time. Early Voting is simply another name for One-Stop Voting pertaining to people who already are registered.

One-Stop Voting sites will be at Highland Recreation Center and the Catawba County Library, main library, in Newton.

However, unregistered voters who expect to go to the polls on Election Day have until Oct. 12 to sign up at the Board of Elections office. The books close that day at 5 p.m.

If it’s been a while since you voted, you can easily check your registration. Go to Under Voter Information, click on Check Your Registration. Fill in the blanks and go from there. Your name will not be found if you are not registered, but before you give up, leave the date of birth box blank and try again.

You can search your previous county of residence (if in North Carolina) to see if you have changed your registration.

If you have not, register with the elections office in Newton or use One-Stop Voting.
