Corrie Star Sacked

Corrie Star Sacked, If Corrie can survive the sackings of stars Peter Adamson, Lynne Perrie and Bruce Jones it’ll continue without Chris

Shame: Fountain and his alter-ego ‘The Phantom’
How ironic that a young actor whose on-screen character has always portrayed kindness, warmth and decency should be axed for such a vile act that has brought the country’s top soap into such disrepute.

But Chris Fountain, normally a likeable and talented guy, is paying the ultimate price for his obscene video rant and gross stupidity.

Even more disappointing is that Chris will probably bring to an end the Duckworth dynasty.

For he played Tommy, the grandson of the legendary Jack and son of one of soap’s greatest villains, the infamous Terry.

And to lose that family presence is undoubtedly a great blow to the fabric of the Corrie.

But did the former Hollyoaks star live up to the Duckworth name and his potential? Probably not.

And over the next six weeks he’ll only briefly appear in Corrie anyway, with no major storylines for him planned for the rest of this month and September.

So will Chris be missed?

Well, if this soap can survive the abrupt sackings of such big names as Peter Adamson (Len Fairclough), Lynne Perrie (Ivy Tilsley) and Bruce Jones (Les Battersby), they’ll undoubtedly continue without Chris.

And how will they orchestrate his exit? As quietly as possible probably
