Christmas Tree Farms, The following sites offer a variety of Christmas trees and holiday wreaths. Some offer crafts and other gift items, while others offer refreshments.

BEN’S CHRISTMAS TREE FARM: 7719 Ryan Road. Located at end of Ryan Road, just off Hunter Road, one-third mile north of Route 173, 4 miles west of Harvard. (630) 279-0216; www.benstreefarm.com. Nine varieties of hand pruned 6- to 15-foot Christmas trees to choose from on a 55-acre farm (Fraser, Balsam and Canaan firs, Colorado Blue, Norway, Engelmann and White Spruce, Scotch and White Pine). Most pines are $6 per foot; most firs are $8.75 per foot. Table top trees (3 feet) are $15 each. Pre-cut trees are also available. Free horse-drawn wagon rides and tractor rides, hot chocolate and coffee in warming barn. Free shaking and netting of trees and drilling of trees. Fresh Fraser fir wreaths and garland, Christmas decorations and boughs available. Saws and twine provided at no charge. Leashed dogs are welcome. Open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16.

BEN’S FRASER FIR FARM: 16324 Capron Road (Wooster Street), 7 miles west of Harvard and 1 mile south of the town of Capron and Route 173. (630) 279-3227; www.benstreefarm.com. Featuring hand-pruned, organically grown Fraser and Balsam firs, and Norway Spruce from six to 14 feet tall. See online for additional tree varieties and sizes. Most trees are $8.75 per foot. Free shaking and netting of trees; free drilling of trees for 11/2-gallon capacity tree stands; fresh, hand-made Fraser fir wreaths, garland, and boughs. Saws and twine provided at no charge. Leashed pets welcome. Assistance for cutting trees as needed. Open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16.

BENTZ ROAD FARM: 6109 85th St. Pleasant Prairie, Wis. (262) 620-4636; www.facebook.com/BentzRoadFarm. Choose and harvest trees. Prices range from $10-14 per foot. Featured are Balsam and Fraser firs, and mixed wreaths, kissing balls, grave sprays, cemetery wreaths, large and small decorated pots, garland, advent wreaths, center pieces. There is a gift shop, hot popcorn, hot chocolate, water, soda, juice, snacks, handmade chocolates and cookies. Pictures with Santa for a donation. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Dec. 22.

BILL’S CHRISTMAS TREE FARM: North Sheridan Road, Beach Park. (847) 623-1422 or (847) 770-1421. Specimen sheared Norway and White Spruce, Colorado and more. Open weekdays through Dec. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to dusk by appointment. Baled and burlapped trees also available. Call for appointment, directions. Bring rope.

BILL’S FRIENDLY CHRISTMAS TREE FARM: 3102 W. Miller Road, Spring Grove. (847) 770-1421. Located northwest of Fox Lake and Johnsburg. Take Route 12 from Fox Lake to Spring Grove Road, turn south and go two miles to Miller Road. Turn west on Miller and go a half-mile to the third large farm on the north side of the road, just east of the Stade Dairy Farm (watch for signs). Hours are weekends from 8:30 a.m. to dusk Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 23 and by appointment weekends.

FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE FARM: Illinois 59 and Petite Lake Road (24774 W. Petite Lake Road for Map Quest), Lake Villa. (847) 989-3092. Choose and cut Scotch and White Pine and White Spruce; pre-cut Balsam and Canaan firs. Free baling, use of saws and twine. Hayrides, hot chocolate and gift shop. Restored dairy barn with historic farm equipment, wreaths in a woodland setting. Hours are 9 to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 23. Choose and cut all sizes and varieties $40.

GAGEWOOD LIONS: Routes 120 and 45, Grayslake. www.gagewoodlions.org. Christmas tree sale fund-raiser through Dec. 23 from 2 to 8 p.m. weekdays. There will be fresh-cut Balsams and Fraser firs, decorated wreaths and firewood. Funds support sight-loss programs, diabetes awareness and community projects.

GENGEL TREE FARM: 38614 North Fairfield, Lake Villa. (847) 356-5661. Very limited supply of cut -your-own trees including Douglas and White Pine. Cost is $55 any size. Also, a nice selection of fresh pre-cut trees including Balsam and Fraser firs, and a large selection of different sized live wreaths, candy canes, arches and swags. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 and 16.

RICHARDSON FARM: 9407 Richardson Road, Spring Grove. (815) 675-9729. www.richardsonfarm.com. Trees of many varieties and sizes spread over 75 acres available for you-cut. Free shaking and baling; hot chocolate and coffee. Large heated sales barn, indoor restrooms, handsaws provided. On weekends, free wagon rides, fresh donuts, concessions, kettle corn, fresh wreaths, garlands, bows and decorations for sale. Scotch and White Pine $49; firs and spruce $59. Select trees in the field start at $29. Pre-cut trees, individually priced, available up to 12 feet high. Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Dec. 23.

ST. ANDREW CHURCH: 10 S. Lake St., Route 45 and Courtland Ave., Mundelein. Christmas tree sale fund-raiser through Dec. 21 Monday through Friday from 3 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Spruce, Balsam, Canaan Fraser trees as well as Balsam wreaths and garland. Free tie-down service and tree trimming. The sale benefits the youth of St. Andrew Church. Details, (847) 566-8081.
