Christmas Day Activities, It’s not a White Christmas, but it’s close.
Just two days removed from a balmy 70-degree day on the first full day of winter,
Mother Nature may provide some scenic snow just in time for Christmas Eve.
Forecasters say snow showers, which may be briefly heavy, are expected to move through parts of the state in the early evening, providing a picturesque backdrop for holiday activities, be they a family dinner or some last-minute shopping.
The snow isn’t expect to accumulate much more than a dusting in most places and shouldn’t provide major travel disruptions for the evening commute. However, the National Weather Service warned drivers to use extra caution as temperatures drop rapidly below freezing tonight.
Temperatures will initially be above freezing, especially near the coast, allowing for the snow to melt on road surfaces,” a special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service’s New York office. “Temperatures will rapidly fall below freezing causing any wet snow or slush to quickly freeze.”
Christmas Day is expected to be dry and clear, but cold. Temperatures will struggle to reach 30 in parts of the state.
