Children In Need

November 17, 2012 by

Children In Need, The amount, which was pledged by donors during the seven hour live show and is expected to rise in the coming weeks, exceeded last year’s record sum of £26.3 million. This year’s event began with Sir Terry Wogan at London’s BBC Television Centre, who welcomed viewers to an extravaganza of music, TV specials and films that highlighted the work the charity does with children through out the UK.

Sir Terry used the ongoing scandal over allegations of child abuse by Jimmy Saville that have embroiled the BBC in recent weeks to emphasis the importance of the work that Children in Need does.

He was joined by co-hosts Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton to introduce acts including Girls Aloud and One Direction.

Girls Aloud took to the stage in matching orange off-the-shoulder tulip dresses as they made their long-awaited comeback after three years apart.
