Boxing Week Sales, Then, the store hit a bit of a snag.
“Lo and behold our computers crashed,” sales associate Shirley Wolinski told the Times-Herald.
The store had to shut itself off from shoppers, but according to Wolinksi that only lasted for five to 10 minutes.
Despite the technological holiday hiccup, she said sales on what typically is Canada’s busiest shopping day of the year were “crazy good” at Calendar Club.
The primary reason for that, of course, is the massive Boxing Day deals many stores post in order to lure more customers into their respective stores.
In recent years, however, most of those Boxing Day sales you used to know have been replaced by Boxing Week sales. Calendar Club is one of those stores with an extended sale.
“This is the fourth year we’ve had a Boxing Week sale,” said Wolinski.
When asked why more retailers have opted for weeklong sales in recent years, Wolinski said she thinks it gives consumers a greater chance to explore more stores over a longer period of time.
“I’ll be doing my shopping (Friday), so it’s good for people who have to work on Boxing Day,” Wolinski said.
At Warehouse One, they don’t have a Boxing Week sale.
Manager Joanna Robbins said her store decided to stick with a two-day sale this year: Dec. 26 and 27.
“We’ve never had a one-day sale,” said Robbins. “It’s always been two days or more.”
By early Thursday afternoon, Robbins noted that Boxing Day at her store were going very well.
