Boston College Andre Williams

November 17, 2013 by

Boston College Andre Williams, Boston College running back Andre Williams entered Saturday’s game against N.C. State as the nation’s leading rusher. He finished with new single-game school records, a single-season ACC record and possibly some consideration in the Heisman Trophy balloting.

ACC Season Rushing Yards
Yards Player, School Year
1,810 Andre Williams, Boston Coll. 2013
1,798 Thomas Jones, Virginia 1999
1,720 Don McCauley, N. Carolina 1970
1,709 David Wilson, Va. Tech 2011
1,655 Ryan Williams, Va. Tech 2009

Williams carried the ball 42 times for 339 yards and two touchdowns in Boston College’s 38-21 win. The senior from Schnecksville, Pa. now has three of the top ten rushing performances in FBS play this season, with Saturday’s performance overtaking Jordan Lynch for the top spot. Williams broke Mike Cloud’s single-season school record and Thomas Jones’ single-season ACC record; and with two games remaining on the schedule there should be enough snaps left to pad that lead in the record books.

The great thing about Williams is that he is a perfect fit for what Steve Addazio wants to do on offense. Williams is as good exploding into open space as he is trucking over defenders, as we saw on Saturday against the Wolfpack.
