Billy Taylor

December 30, 2010 by

Billy Taylor, Seems kind of downtime during the holidays. There was not even a new episode of Top Chef All-Stars last night. Regardless, we’ll see what happens in the arts and entertainment. Legendary jazz pianist long and DC resident Billy Taylor died yesterday of a heart attack at age 89. Our own Michael J. West has appointed Taylor as a jazz musician district second only to Duke Ellington in the Washington City Paper 2009-best of the show.

Yet more news of Michael Jackson. The defense of Conrad Murphy, the doctor accused of manslaughter in the death of Jackson, will argue that Jackson himself killed. What do you think will go down as the greatest of early death in the history of pop music: Michael Jackson or Elvis? Discuss. You know what the end of the year means: lists galore. The best, most influential, whatever superlative you can think of for 2010 lists. People like Tom Ford, Carey Mulligan, and Alber Elbaz to Vogue “impact” list; Four Loko, incest at Columbia, and KFC Double Down are among the items on the New York Times that New Yorkers spoke of “the list and my colleague Jonathan L. Fischer is acting as Hearts America, Tabi Bonney, Dave Nada, and Carolyn Malichi on its list of best local songs. Keep an eye on the blog for the most memorable images of Louis Jacobson later today.
