Alfred Morris Injury

October 1, 2013 by

Alfred Morris Injury, Redskins starting running back Alfred Morris left the third quarter of Sunday’s 24-14 win over the Oakland Raiders having suffered what the team described as a rib contusion.

Morris didn’t speak to reporters after the game, and the Redskins didn’t yet know how seriously bruised his ribs were. Fortunately for Morris, the Redskins have a bye this coming week and will not play again until Oct. 13 at Dallas.

“Alfred’s ribs are a little sore right now,” Coach Mike Shanahan said. “I don’t know how serious it is, but we’ll wait and see on that.”

Morris on Sunday carried the ball 16 times for 71 yards with a long of 13. Roy Helu Jr. took over for Morris after he got hurt, and he finished the game with 41 yards and a touchdown – a 14-yard game-clinching run – on 13 carries.

Tight end Logan Paulsen got the start with Fred Davis coming off of a sprained ankle and with rookie Jordan Reed sidelined by a bruised thigh. But Paulsen suffered a late-game knee injury and left O.co Coliseum wearing a brace.

Paulsen had two catches for 46 yards and a fumble. Fellow tight end Niles Paul also had two catches for 20 yards.

Cornerback DeAngelo Hall appeared to injure his right foot in the first half, but returned in the second half and finished the game. Linebacker Brian Orakpo left the game briefly with a foot injury. He said defensive end Stephen Bowen stepped on his foot and actually ripped his shoe. Orakpo returned and finished the game on a strong note.
