54 Loaded Guns and Airports, The TSA announced that it seized a total of 65 firearms at airport security checkpoints across the country last week.
NBC’s Tom Costello reported that the number of seizures marked a record, with 50 guns previously reported as the highest number.
The seizure included 54 loaded weapons, 19 of which at rounds chambered.
One of the firearms confiscated was strapped to a man’s prosthetic leg at Salk Lake City International Airport. The man was patted-down after an anomaly was detected during an advanced imaging technology screening, NBC reported.
Officers discovered the man had a loaded .22 caliber firearm inside his boot and strapped to his prosthetic leg. He was later arrested at the airport for “carrying a concealed weapon in a secure area.”
