2014 Fifa World Cup Schedule, Well, the 2014 World Cup escalated quickly. A day after a controversial penalty given to Brazil helped the hosts defeat Croatia, the Netherlands beat down defending champion Spain in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2010 final. Mexico also defeated Cameroon and Chile beat Australia.

Today in Group C, Colombia – minus star forward Radamel Falcao – takes on Greece, while the Ivory Coast plays Japan later.

While in Group D, Uruguay – which won the 1950 World Cup against then hosts Brazil – plays Costa Rica, followed by the much-anticipated match between England and Italy in Manaus, Brazil.

The World Cup will feature 32 nations — placed in eight groups with four teams apiece — and a total of 64 games. The United States has qualified for its seventh straight World Cup and will be looking to get out of a challenging group that features Germany, Portugal and Ghana.
