1D Star Engaged?, Big news, 1D fans! “#CongratsZaynAndPerrie” is trending on Twitter – and with good reason. One Direction star Zayn Malik, 20, is engaged to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, reports the BBC.
Edwards, 20, proudly showed off a rock on her finger at Tuesday night’s premiere of the band’s new movie, This Is Us, reports The Mirror.
A spokesman for Hackford Jones PR confirmed the news to the BBC, saying: “Zayn and Perrie are engaged, but any further detail regarding their relationship is private.”
The two met on the set of the British version of The X Factor in 2011. One Direction was performing and Little Mix went on to become the first group to win the TV contest after being mentored by Tulisa Contostavlos.
Edwards’ mother, Debbie, told Real Radio North East: “It’s true. They got engaged on Sunday and it was absolutely lovely. It’s wonderful because Zayn’s absolutely gorgeous and Perrie loves him to pieces and it’s just perfect. They just get on so well together and they understand each other so it’s just fabulous.”
