100-Game Suspension, 100-game suspension for Cesar Carrillo over Biogenesis scandal, On Friday, it was determined that a 100-game suspension for Cesar Carrillo would be the punishment for his name cropping up in the Biogenesis scandal. Biogenesis is an anti-aging clinic, and Major League Baseball is currently investigating the clinic’s involvement in supplying performance enhancing drugs to players in the league.
Cesar Carrillo is currently a pitcher who plays for the Detroit Tigers.Carrillo was hit by the league for allegedly violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
The penalty not only carries a steep 100-game suspension (in Major League Baseball, there are only 162 games), but Cesar will also be suspended without pay.
The MLB is battling hard to climb outside a dark shadow full of rumored players to have taken performance enhancing drugs. The scandal, which reached a fever pitch following the late 1990s when the league enjoyed a resurrection thanks to the likes of Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa, continues to drain the patience of fans and even some in the media who want the focus of baseball to remain on the diamond, and not in allegations of what player is taking what substance.
