Wzzm School Closings

Wzzm School Closings, Ferris State University officials say a bomb threat phoned in to the school on Thursday did not cause any disruptions to classes or other campus activities.

A spokesman for the university says they received the message about a possible bomb Thursday morning, but the caller did not give them any specifics on a location.

The university sent an alert to students, faculty and staff through its emergency communications system. Officials decided to continue regular activities, though, because the threat was deemed “less than credible,” according to spokesman Marc Sheehan.

Members of the university’s department of public safety searched campus buildings, but did not find any evidence supporting the credibility of the threat or any further messages from the original caller.

“Had the threat been more credible, we would have reacted differently as the safety and security of our people is our first and foremost priority,” says Sheehan in a news release. “Given the situation, we felt that closing campus could have by itself caused an unsafe environment. We took the situation very seriously but did not want to overreact.”
