Wright Brothers Day, The annual celebration of the day human beings overpowered gravity with flying machines is marking a century of U.S. naval aviation.

The National Park Service and First Flight Society marks the first flight on Saturday at the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills. Saturday marks 108 years since Wilbur and Orville Wright took off from the Outer Banks dunes for a 12-second flight that changed the world.

This year’s event marks the 100th anniversary of United States naval aviation and includes a fly-over by Navy F/A-18 Hornets.
