Wrestling News: WWE WrestleMania XXVII
April 4, 2011 by Post Team
Wrestling News, Wrestlemania 2011 came and gone, and relying on the lens through which people view things, it was either a big success or a serious letdown.
Financially, WWE says it made history. In a press release posted on the Baltimore Sun’s Ring Posts blog, WWE says WrestleMania XXVII grossed $6. 6 million and set attendance records at the Georgia Dome. Reading the weblogs, it’s possible you’ll find a different story. At Bleacher Report, they come right out and say it: “WrestleMania XXVII will go down as one of the most underwhelming WrestleManias in recent memory, ” writes Josh Brewer.
“There was no trademark match on the card, and the high-profile matches were way too predictable. Nobody was shocked when Undertaker beat Triple H. Nobody was shocked when Randy Orton beat CM Punk. And surely nobody was shocked when WrestleMania once again ended with John Cena as WWE Champion, ” writes Brewer.
(Note: Miz took the title – thanks to The Rock – and Brewer writes about it later in the post. “Not in a thousand lifetimes did I think The Miz would walk out of Atlanta with the title. But he did. )NTQuMTQ3LjI0NC4xNTc=
At first, the match ended in a double count out. But then The Rock demanded the match restart. Wrestlingobserver. Com summed it up: “Weak main event. ” It seems that not even the appearance of Snooki and the return of The Rock put the event over the top. More than 30 percent of voters in a Bleacher Report reader’s poll give the event 5 or less on a scale of 1-10.
