Would-be Parrot Thief Takes Chihuahua Instead, Orange County authorities say a would-be parrot thief put a gun to a homeowner’s head and instead fled with his laptop and his Chihuaha.

City News Service says a 69-year-old Anaheim man called 911 on Wednesday to report the attempted theft of two parrots and a parakeet from his backyard.

Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino says the homeowner confronted the man, who pulled a gun, followed him into the house and put it to the man’s head. When the man’s daughter began to scream, the gunman fled with a laptop and cellphone.

Amormino says he also took the family’s year-old Chihuahua, Blanca.

Amormino says he personally drove around the neighborhood for an hour until he spotted the dog about five blocks away and returned it.
