False front store and American cars will be taken to transform Glasgow in Philadelphia, while a number of roads in the city center will be closed to traffic.
Local people also have the opportunity to star in the film as zombie extras after an open casting call held last month.
Gordon Matheson, Glasgow City Council leader, told the BBC: “We are ready to receive the First World War Z production Glasgow. There is great excitement in the city before a movie so great to come here.”
The shooting could boost the local economy for more than 2 million pounds, according to the Glasgow City Council.
In the film, based on 2006 novel by Max Brooks World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, Pitt plays a worker at the United Nations after the war of the Commission, collecting the stories and experiences of those who survived a zombie attack. Filming has already taken place in Valletta, Malta and Falmouth in Cornwall. World War Z is due to be launched next year.
