Woman Stomach Explodes Lost 14 Stone, When Samantha Haworth pounds piled on after getting arthritis in the ankles, decided to take drastic measures to help you lose weight. However, gastric banding had installed nearly cost him her life – when he slipped and took the stomach to burst inside. Samantha, 25, had seen her weight drop from 28 stone to 14 stone two years after having the operation.
But she was taken to hospital for surgery when it was agonizing stomach pain. She said: “When I saw that it opened had left the stomach – that had exploded. I had only 15 minutes to live unless he did something drastic. “Even the researchers were trying to figure out what to do, as police escorted a transplant doctor to save my life. I started going in and out of consciousness.
“I knew immediately that I was dying. Every time I closed my eyes I saw memories – I was sitting in my old apartment stroking my cat.”
Samantha, of Coventry, was taken to the city’s university hospital, where surgeons rebuilt bits health of your stomach back together like a puzzle.
After the operation in May was put on a life support machine and given only a 5% chance of survival.

When the band slipped earlier this year – causing tiny breaks in the stomach – it confused the symptoms of heartburn. Food intake was difficult and she started vomiting.

Despite her lucky escape, Samantha – now near her ideal weight of 13 stones – he does not regret having had the procedure.
She said: “I know about to die, but I was lucky. If I had not had the surgery I had died before they reached 30 because it was so big.
“I’m not trying to scare people to have a gastric band. I just want to know things can still go wrong.”
Samantha spent a month in hospital and her stomach is now only half its original size, so now only eat little and often.
She said: “Imagine a small and middle – that’s my absolute limit. Moreover, unable to eat and drink together.”
A Coventry University hospital spokesman said he slipped a gastric band can perforate the stomach wall and allow the contents to escape – but it is a small risk that patients are given.
