Wladimir Klitschko, World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko insists he will defend his belts against Frenchman Jean-Marc Mormeck, despite being taken to hospital eight days before the fight.

Klitschko, who holds the IBF, IBO, WBO and WBA belts, was taken to hospital on Friday to have a kidney stone removed.

The 35-year-old is set to face Mormeck in Dusseldorf on 10 December.

“The planning and preparation for the fight are going ahead as planned,” said his spokesman Klaus-Peter Dittrich.

The Ukrainian needed treatment in Austria, where he has set up his training camp ahead of the bout, after complaining of abdominal pain.

He will be looking to clinch his 50th knockout from 60 professional bouts when he takes on former cruiserweight world champion Mormeck.

Klitschko added the WBA belt to the other straps he already held by beating Britain’s David Haye on points in July.
