Wisconsin Recall Results
August 10, 2011 by USA Post
Republican Senators Rob Cowles, Alberta Darling, Sheila Harsdorf and Olsen Luther all clung to their seats, meaning that the party held majority control in the state.
The results come after an aggressive lot. “I think it’s a big win for us,” said the director of the Committee to Elect a Republican Senator John Hogan Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
However, Democrats are upbeat after winning two seats.
“We went on its territory and won the Republican turf,” said Mike Tate, president of the state Democratic Party, according to the MJS.
Jennifer Shilling Democrats and Jessica King defeated Republican Dan Kapanke holders and Randy Hopper, respectively.
“I have wanted to go to Madison to defend working families, seniors and students from Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Blackwolf, Waupun and throughout the 18th district,” King said in a statement. “Their voices are heard again.”
Shilling was more succinct.
“Victory, WI!” She tweeted after results were announced.
The results of the recall election are another sign of the times ahead for the Democratic Party. Republican GOP presidential candidates are blaming high unemployment and the stock market crash earlier this week in the Obama administration and its policies. A recent Gallup poll shows the approval rating of President Obama on the employment situation in less than 50 percent. Times are tough, and the games have begun voting.
