February 4, 2011 by staff
Wing Bowl 2011, While we must wait until Sunday to see if the Steelers or Packers have Super Bowl XLV title – the champion of eating the wing was crowned. This morning, 26 brave men and muscular attended the Wing Cup 2011, not more safe sport, but still a great effort down and dirty! So who won? How did he crush the wings? New Jersey Jon accounting “Super” Squibb, 6 4, scarfed to 255 wings at Wells Fargo Center this morning in Philadelphia before 20,000 spectators who came to the 19th annual Wing Bowl 610WIP – even before the doors open fan tradition began tailgating in Philly for four hours as they queued to get good seats!
Next to the Super Bowl, the Puppy Cup, this time of year also brings us the Wing Bowl, which is the Super Bowl of competitive eating. It was held in Philadelphia for 19 years and on Friday (February 4), Jonathan they sang “Super” as the winner Squibb 2011.
It was the third victory in a row Squibb, but it is remarkable because he ate a record of 255 wings, beating the former record of 241 Joey Chestnut. Wow. It’s … both wings in 30 minutes, no less. Runner-up El Wingador ate 254, so that these boys came to play this year, apparently.
CBSPhilly told 20,000 people gathered in the Wells Fargo Center to watch the event this year, with tailgating begin at 4:00 Hells yeah.
“I’ll tell you what the great secret of Wing Bowl is, we have absolutely no idea what we do year after year. No clue. We just hold our breath and hope everyone will come out alive, “said Angelo Cataldi, host of 610WIP a morning show and the man behind the event.
We cannot decide if this sounds like an awesome show that we would see or the most terrifying thing ever. Probably a little of both.
There are other men who attended a ridiculously ? “manly” ? (and a little gross) ? challenge – Wing Bowl 2011.
Each year, thousands of fans gather to watch the challenge unhealthy food in history. This is the 19th year the challenge has happened and it was ? Wells Fargo Center.
How much should you eat wings to win such a prestigious award?
? Jon “Super” Squib, a 6 4 New Jersey accountant ate 255 wings bbq’d goodness – it’s about 40,000 calories & 2550 grams of fat for those of you out there calorie counters and the landing him a new world record. It was a close competition if – Squibb beat five-time champion Bill “El Wingador” Simmons by one leg. This is the third time ? Squibb who won the challenge.
