Wimbledon 2011 Results, Wimbledon 2011, near the halfway point, let’s take a look to see who is moving in the tournament. On the ladies side of seventh seed Serena Williams, winner of last year, won her second round match in three sets. After losing the first set 6-3 and seeded Simona Halep won again the following two quite easily 6-2, 6-1, who will face Maria Kirilenko in the third round. Her sister Venus had an easy third-round match against Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez won 6-0,6-2.
Maria Sharapova, ranked fifth Wimbledon in 2011 won in her second round match against Laura Robson and now face Klara Zakopalova in the third assault. On the mens side seventh-seeded David Ferrer won his match in five sets. American Andy Roddick was not so lucky losing in three sets to Feliciano Lopez of Spain to put an end to his career in the 2011 Wimbledon Championships.
Another surprise defeat in the women’s side this time was the No. 2 seed Vera Zvonareva lost in straight sets. Tennis has not been without rain delays over in England, however the parties held on center court has been able to keep under cover. After the third round of the action both on the side of the ladies and men will be reduced to 16 players, all looking for the chance to win Wimbledon 2011.
