Will Ferrell Announces ‘Anchorman’ Sequel, The 2004 comedy’s star Will Ferrell made the announcement himself on Wednesday’s episode of Conan, appearing in character as the mustachioed Ron Burgundy himself. “To everyone here in the Americas. To our friends in Spain, Turkey and the UK including England,” Ferrell-as-Burgundy addressed the crowd, “as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself . . . have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman.” He also regaled the Conan crowd with a flute solo.

Directed by Ferrell’s creative partner Adam McKay and produced by Judd Apatow, the beloved film — about a hard-drinking, doltish, sexist newsman — costarred Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and Christina Applegate.
