Whitey Bulger, A federal judge has granted a request by the longtime girlfriend of former crime boss of Boston James “Whitey” Bulger to delay the start of her trial next year on charges of helping the mafia to elude the authorities.
Catherine Greig (GREHG) has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to harbor and conceal a fugitive.
Greig trial had been scheduled for April 23. Judge Douglas Woodlock on Wednesday granted a request to move the trial date to May 7. His lawyer had cited scheduling conflicts.
Greig did not attend the brief hearing.
Bulger, the former leader of the notorious Winter Hill gang, was a fugitive for more than 16 years, until he and Greig have been arrested in Santa Monica, California, in June. Bulger has pleaded innocent to charges stemming from 19 murders.
