When Is Whitney Houston’s Funeral?, Whitney Houston’s funeral is to be streamed live online this Saturday, allowing fans to say goodbye to the singer when she is laid to rest.
Followers had been left upset after it emerged that proposed plans for a public memorial service at the 18,500 Prudential Centre appeared to have been shelved, in favour of a private church ceremony for just family and friends.
But it has now emerged that Whitney’s publicist Kristen Foster has struck a deal with The Associated Press, allowing them to film and broadcast the ceremony at Newark’s New Hope Baptist Church this Saturday (February 18).
The funeral will be shown on livestream.com/aplive on Saturday as well as being available on some satellite services.
The church service will take place at 12pm in Newark, New Jersey (5pm GMT), and is expected to be attended by around 300 of the singer’s family and friends.
Whitney’s mother Cissy Houston is believed to have insisted the her daughter be laid to rest in a church as it was more “appropriate”, and chose the New Hope Baptist Church, where the star used to sing in the choir alongside her cousin Dionne Warwick.
Whitney died aged just 48 on Saturday February 11. She is believed to have been found unconscious in the bathtub in her room in the Beverly Hilton hotel.
Bottles of prescription drugs were found in the star’s room, and speculation has arisen that the performer may have died following a drug and alcohol binge.
