Wes Welker, After a scoreless first quarter dominated by the New England Patriots, Tom Brady connected with Wes Welker on a six-yard touchdown to give the Patriots a 7-0 lead over the New York Jets in the second quarter .
The Jets have run only three offensive plays to this point in the game, Mark Sanchez has thrown two incomplete passes – including a launch point that he nearly intercepted by safety Patrick Chung – Shonna Greene and has recorded a run of five yards. El Pais, meanwhile, have held the ball for all but 62 seconds of the game.
Welker score came after the slot receiver left the field after a vicious – and possibly intentional – blow to the head by Jets safety Eric Smith. Welker left the field for their own good and appeared on the sidelines.
