Weather Channel Joplin Mo, The Weather Channel’s Mike Bettes and his team have been called “The Chase team.” This spring has been cross tornado alley in search of nights like tonight. But what they found on arrival even shook. A monster tornado – maybe half a mile wide – crashed Joplin, MO at 6pm leaving destruction in its wake, countless homes, a school, fire station, shutting the windows and tearing back the roof of the 10-story San Juan Medical Center, leaving him unable to treat the injured or able to continue care of those already admitted.
Bettes was one of the first on the scene after the tornado had passed and has been doing several live reports tonight. When not in the air, Chase Team is sending a livestream of the location of living Bettes on Weather.com.
