Voter Registration, (AP) – A leader of the Republican Party figure said tea party supported by congressional candidates who win elections Tuesday will consider part of the GOP when they come to Washington.

Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour noted in an interview broadcast nationally that candidates like Paul Rand Senate hopeful in Kentucky ran under the Republican banner, and began as Republicans.

Interviewed by the Democratic Party chairman Tim Kaine on NBC’s “Today” show, Barbour said that if applicants had argued Tea Party as an independent, “which would have been cherished dream Tim Kaine,” because it would split the Conservative vote.

Kaine said he optimistic Democrats can keep both the House and Senate, but acknowledged the House is “an uphill battle.”
