Vh1 Divas December 19, VH1 announced a pretty impressive list of artists to celebrate the soul VH1 Divas air Monday, December 19 at 9 pm This year’s artists are Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Florence + The Machine, Kelly Clarkson, and Jessie J with roots acting as house band.

The concert series tribute to the “big cities of soul music,” including Chicago, Detroit, London, Memphis and Philadelphia.

“Transmission of this year will be a showcase of soul music has had great impact in the 21 century music and pop culture landscape as our talented and diverse line will attest,” says VH1 original music production and VH1 Classic EVP & Development, Lee Rolontz.

Each artist will make his own hits along with some classic soul. The roots serve as house band with Questlove as musical director.

Once again, the event will benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, which works to restore music education in public schools.

The annual VH1 Divas special debuted in 1998. Previous artists have included Beyonce, Katy Perry, Sugarland, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Cher, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Aretha Franklin.  Greg is the executive producer for productions Chloe Sills and Lee Rolontz, Rick Krim for VH1.
