Vh1 Divas 2011

October 29, 2011 by staff

Vh1 Divas 2011, VH1 Divas was born in 1998 as a benefit for Save the Music that showed the impressive vocal talents powerful female singers that had a lot of magnitude (the inaugural lineup featured Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion). The definition of the diva has moved to the network in recent years (hello, Miley Cyrus!),

But the newly announced lineup is very strong ’11 anchored by four-time interpreter Divas Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson twice Divas and Jill Scott, former Diva Jennifer Hudson, and a pair of newcomers, one of which has appeared on the cover of SPIN: Florence + the Machine and Jessie J.

This year’s show, which airs Dec. 19 at 9 pm ET / PT on VH1, is dedicated to soul music, the roots serve as house band and uestlove, has been chosen as music director of the night? . The event will take place in the Hall of New York, Hammerstein, but celebrating the cities that helped birth and nourish the soul, like Chicago, Detroit, London, Memphis and Philadelphia. If the network is wise, it’s going to squeeze a tribute to Amy Winehouse in the mix considering MTV botched its opportunity to honor the fallen singer Awards last summer’s Video Music.
