Vegan, Survey of 2009, advocates for non-profit Vegetarian Resource Group has recorded about 1% of Americans are vegetarians. This is equivalent to one third of people who say being vegetarian. Vegans, for the uninitiated, are vegetarians who abstain from any kind of animal product, whether hocks butter, cheese, milk and ham. The same group showed a similar distribution for Americans ages 8 to 18.
