Vancouver 2010 WelcomeVancouver Winter Olympics Open After Tragedy | special effects Laden welcomed the opening ceremony in the world of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. But amid the scene, the athlete did not fall far from the minds of all.

Lugar Georgian Nodar Kumaritashvili died Friday morning during a practice run when he lost control of his sled and crashed into the barriers to safety in the steel beam. And the remaining seven members of his team decided to go ahead in the competition and met with a standing ovation when they entered the BC Place Stadium.

A moment of silence
Public than 50,000 held a moment of silence before the Olympic flag was raised, and many of the competitors about 2,600 from 82 countries wore black armbands in memory Kumaritashvili.

“When these incidents they catch the bad does not happen to you by surprise; never in a million years you understand something like this could happen,” said the United States ice dancer Tanith Belbin. “We hope that we can together, and offered his condolences and support for his team and family.”

Canadian Bryan Adams, Nelly Furtado, Sarah MacLachlan, D. Lang, Joni Mitchell sang during the program, which takes three hours. Donald Sutherland and Roy appear before helping to carry the Olympic flag as part of the six band that included hockey and singer Bobby Orr, Anne Murray.

Vice President Joseph Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden, have helped to give a big smile on their face for the U.S. and roughly 200 units, who were wearing Ralph Lauren Lester milliner and coherent. Biden said the BBC he took his grandchildren to meet Shaun White and other skiers.

“[And girls] I loved it. Made me a hero. All that matters is what they think of your grandchildren,” said Vice-President of the Republic.

Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, announced the opening of the session. After that, he entered four athletes to light the Olympic flame, and thereby on the night of Snafu only. One of the hydraulic arms did not rise, and only three of the athletes participated: Hockey great Wayne Gretzky, basketball star Steve Nash and skier Nancy Greene.

Moments later, Gretzky went on board a truck to the second, the boiler in the open air and lit one himself.
