Few women go through life without ever having suffered from unpleasant symptoms of a yeast infection. In fact, about 3 4 (72 percent) of women will experience their first yeast infection before the age of 25. (1) In addition, the incidence of yeast infections is higher among young women aged 18 to 24 (2), which are new to the category and uncertain about symptoms and treatment options available. According to a recent survey of women aged 18-24 commissioned by the MONISTAT ® Brand, sixty-one percent (61 percent) of young women do not know which, if any, on the counter products can cure yeast infection.
“Many women do not realize that once they have identified they have a yeast infection, they can easily handle on their own terms,” said Dr. Suzanne Gilberg-Lenz, a board certified OB / GYN who practices in Beverly Hills, California. Lenz, a partner in the investigation MONISTAT ®, examined the full results and offers the following tips to help heal the confusion about yeast infections:
Cure vs. Care
Over 3.1 (37 percent) of women incorrectly believe that treatment of symptoms of a yeast infection is the same as cure the infection.
“I see many women who have tried unsuccessfully to treat yeast infections,” said Dr. Lenz. “One of the biggest mistakes I see my patients are using external creams for relief of symptoms, such as Vagisil ® (3) to treat a yeast infection Vagisil ® (4) does not cure the infection. It temporarily masks or relieves symptoms. ”
Thirty-eight percent (38 percent) of women mistakenly believe that yeast infections can be cured by a doctor’s prescription.
“Although there are treatments available on prescription, they can sometimes take 24 to 48 hours to start working,” said Lenz. “If you know you have a yeast infection and you’re healthy, try a nonprescription remedy, such as Monistat ® immediately to cure the infection and treat symptoms of the mark has a portfolio of products, including 1 -. 3 -. And 7-Day treatment, to meet the needs of individual women, which are scientifically proven safe and effective ”
Know Before You Go
The majority of women (60 percent) were unsure whether their symptoms were those of a yeast infection.
“The symptoms of yeast infection vary greatly between individuals,” said Lenz. “The classic symptoms – thick, white, lumpy discharge, itching and burning – does not seem all women The sign is always important vgnal discomfort that develops on the blue If you are unsure, especially if you’ve never. Had a yeast infection, see your doctor to make sure your symptoms are not actually the result of a sexually transmitted disease, bacterial infection or a combination of yeast and bacteria. ”
“If your yeast infection does not disappear, consult your doctor,” says Lenz. “Once you have treated the infection in the long term, preventive measures, including changes to your diet and lifestyle life, can help prevent future infections. ”
With 35 years of proven effectiveness, MONISTAT ® is the No. 1 recommended by doctors to cure over-the-counter treatment that begins with the contact. For more information on signs, symptoms and treatment options for yeast infections, and hearing more of Mr. Lenz, www.Monistat.com visit.

Quotas were set to ensure reliable and accurate representation of the total population of U.S. women aged 18-24.
Sample results are subject to sampling variation. The magnitude of the variation is measurable and is affected by the number of interviews and the level of the percentages expressing the results. For the 711 interviews conducted in this study, the chances are 95 to 100, a survey result does not vary, plus or minus, by more than 3.68 percentage points compared to the result that would be obtained if interviews were conducted with all persons in the universe represented by the sample.
