The University of Western Ontario has been listed as one of the major schools of Play boy magazine party of 10 in North America.
The London, Ont., The school was placed at No. 4 before the Arizona State University.
So what does the West – the only campus in Canada on the list – a school party in the eyes of Hugh Hefner? “More than 20,000 undergraduate students enjoy a legal drinking age of at this school in London, Ontario,” wrote the magazine.
Maybe some of these 19 years of age is presented in one of the oldest bars in London, Ceeps, a popular meeting place where the magazine said Sledgehammer students play Bingo, a game that supposedly involves stripping and drinking.
The magazine reports that one of the dormitories of the school is so notorious for partying was nicknamed “The Zoo, noting that holiday parties like the St. Patrick’s Day and Halloween are” monumental occasion “there.
A spokesman for the university tried to put a shine on the report.
“There really is a strong academic focus and a focus on academic achievement in the Western, but, that said, the sign of the West is the best student experience in a research-intensive university, so that care about the experience of students in general, “said John Doerksen, vice-rector of the West. “We have a lot of programming to support this. A lot of leadership development, volunteer opportunities, and that sort of thing. But I do not know if that kind of commitment that is connected with the image of the party school.
Katie Fox, now , graduated in psychology and criminology at Western in 2007. She said she was surprised to see Western Play boy made the list – not because she thinks the party hard image of the university is exaggerated, but because she was surprised he managed to leave many American campuses drinks.
“I’m definitely proud. I like to think I contributed to the situation,” Fox said “I have to say, at the height of his reputation.”
Fox said he hopes people do not see it only as a party school.
“There are so many other things to offer, including its beautiful campus, amazing friends and teachers face,” Fox said
Amie Forbes, a fourth year student of sociology at the University of Ottawa, was recently accepted in the West for college teacher. She said the new State University is not a big thing for her since it goes to a graduate program.
“I think if you go in the first year would be different. Especially if you were living in the residence,” said Forbes. “I think it all depends on the type of student as well. I mean if I were someone who likes to party, then it would be sweet, but if I were someone who is very focused in school so I could dissuade you go to a party school in the first year. “
